Tynemouth Market is held every Saturday and Sunday from 9am-4pm, inside Tynemouth Metro Station. It’s free to get in and there’s heaps to see! It’s hard to describe all the kinds of wonderful treasures you can find, but the stalls I stopped at mainly sold bric-a-brac, antiques, jewellery and collectibles. There were also some stalls selling clothes, flowers, crafty stuff and food.

We decided to pop in today after we’d been for something to eat, Ankush hadn’t been before and it must have been about 5 years since my last visit so this was way overdue.  Of course I took a gazillion photos in the hour we were there, so I’m not going to talk too much in this post, instead I’ll show you the things I decided to snap.

We ended up buying a few little things including cashew butter (YUM). Next time we go we won’t eat beforehand, there were so many food stalls, Ankush got a cone of chips from The Little Fishy. His words “these actually taste like potato”. I had to have one (or two) to corroborate this statement, he was right. PROPER chips.

It was such a sunny day, the light in the station was amazing. I was in my element taking photos.

We didn’t have much time left at this point so didn’t make it over the bridge to the other side where there were more stalls, but I did walk up the steps and take photos, to the annoyance of other market goers! Sorry people.

I managed to take a few more on the way out, our parking was running out! Benny’s Toon Macaroons caught my eye. I had a taste of Benny’s best sellers, chocolate orange macaroons, they were warm and absolutely gorgeous. He was also pretty funny, letting me know his nose wasn’t running, he’d just sliced an orange and some had gone up his nose. I don’t know why I’m telling you this, I just really enjoyed it.

I would definitely recommend visiting Tynemouth Market, you can find some lovely things even if you’re not looking for anything in particular. We parked on Front Street and walked down, it’s a very short walk. Next time I think we might just hop on the metro, seeing as it’s literally inside the station. (I say this, but I bet we still drive).
